DREAMLAND FANS |
Not just an icon. Twas a night long ago, the scene was grim and the fairy tale land had diminished, but along came a thin mustachioed man who transformed my life. It was one film that drug and drugged my inner being into the Dreamland realm to become utterly engrossed in John Waters' filthy genius. Since seeing "Pink Flamingos" at the ripe age of 12-years-old I knew that Mr. Waters was onto something that surpassed 'The Neverending Story." This was when the obsession began, the body was hairless, but a treasure trail has begun. As Mr. Waters says, "Obsession is a Gift." Soon adventures occurred to find film relics and traveling across many back roads to find a move theatre playing his new releases such as "A Dirty Shame." I finally landed in college and chose to write my thesis by incorporating and abundance of Waters' work; titled "Can cinema go too far?" In the end, my answer was no and examples poured all over the theater. Mr. Waters started my mind on a journey to make backwoods guerrilla productions and has forever enhancing my mental stability. After collecting obscure Waters' films and books, the adventure is being planned to visit Baltimore as well as start a Cockettes styled troupe in Minneapolis. Mr. Waters is more than an icon, he is the future. Sincerely, Kaleb Bronson |
